WHO WE ARE
We, the Discalced Nuns of Carmel of the Infant Jesus, belong to the Order of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Mount Carmel. We are the only female contemplative order serving the Archdiocese of Toronto in Canada. With and through Mary, through a cloistered life of silence and solitude, we collaborate in all the active apostolate and missions of the Church with our prayers, sacrifices and good works. We especially pray for the salvation of souls, for priests and for all those in need.
The dying Therese promised to spend Heaven doing good upon earth…of letting fall from Heaven a Shower of Roses…and to love Jesus and make Him loved. Her promises are fulfilled in a very special way in our Carmel. We take her words “My Vocation is LOVE” as our motto. It is our desire that the offering of our prayer and sacrifices, like rose petals after touching Jesus, will come down as heavenly blessings into this world. May the Holy Spirit, with his inspired words from Scriptures and from St. Therese, accompany you in your visit to our website, and set your heart on fire with God's LOVE.
To scatter flowers is to offer as first fruits the slightest sighs,
the greatest sufferings, my sorrows and my joys, my little sacrifices.
These are my flowers.
Lord, I want to squander my perfumes and my flowers on you.
In strewing them for you on the wings of the breeze,
I would like to inflame hearts!
– St. Therese of the Child Jesus –
WHAT WE DO
Living a simple life of Jesus and Mary, in gospel poverty, chastity, and obedience, in charity and in joy, we witness the primacy of God, who is Father, LORD, and Maker of humankind.
Desiring to achieve an intimate relationship with God in our contemplative life, we strive to share the healing and liberating gifts of contemplative prayer, so that many may live in true freedom, peace, love and joy.
Entering into the merciful heart of God, feeling the needs, desires, hopes and sufferings of humankind, we embrace all God's people, and intercede for them and for all those in need.
